Last year, I was on a mission to create FUN, hands-on, and engaging resources to give my students more time to explore, identify, and understand nonfiction text features. and numbers—all in different sizes. There are also special features, such as the photograph, diagram, and box at the bottom of the page. And instead of reading across the page from left to right, you have to read two columns. All of this stuff may be very confusing. However, each feature is a tool, just like a hammer or a can opener.
